OUR HISTORY
Out of a goal of diversifying their workforce, organizations recruiting Coggin College of Business students would regularly inquire if there was a women's business club in the Coggin College of Business. In an effort to address that need and also model women's affinity groups that were being started in the local business community, Shannon Italia and the Coggin Career Management Center started laying the groundwork for a student club that would address the need unique to females pursuing a career in business. Fortune 100 companies and top 50 business schools were reviewed to find examples of successful organizations that we could model in the Coggin College.
At the same time, Coggin Finance student Whitney Osborne, at the urging of Professor Paul Fadil, expressed an interest in starting a women's business organization because she correctly felt that females were underrepresented in the major that she was pursuing. The two parties came together in early summer 2009 and the mission and goals of the organization were established. Officers were recruited and the organization officially started in fall 2009.
